Self-interest refers to the pursuit of one's own personal gain or advantage, often at the expense of others. It involves making decisions and taking actions that prioritize one's own needs, desires, and well-being. Self-interest is a fundamental aspect of human nature and is often seen as a driving force behind individual behavior and decision-making. However, it is important to strike a balance between self-interest and consideration for the well-being of others in order to maintain healthy relationships and a functioning society. **

For some, the pursuit of a new interest can be a way to challenge themselves and gain a sense of accomplishment, which in turn can boost their self-confidence. Ultimately, the reasons for pursuing a new interest can be a combination of genuine interest and a desire for personal growth and confidence. **

Self-defense is generally justified when a person reasonably believes that they are in imminent danger of physical harm. While honor may be important to an individual, it is not typically recognized as a justification for using force in self-defense. Legal systems generally prioritize the protection of physical safety over the protection of honor. **
